CLUBS

Our club activities are designed to help learners engage with science through fascinating and enjoyable experiences. We aim to help them develop an enquiring mind by investigating, brainstorming, discussing and exploring scientific ideas, facts and products.

Activities like conducting interesting experiments, making models such as volcanos that simulate eruptions, bee-hives or rocket launches may be undertaken. Learners will be encouraged to research on the internet to find intriguing science topics to explore. They will be given a platform to perform experiments and explain their findings. Other learners will be motivated to find out and showcase their research and discoveries.

The club activities will help our learners to be more critical and analytical, they will improve their ability to evaluate and question data, information and events and learn to examine and understand causes and effects of things that happen around us.

The activities are designed to capture the learners imagination and stimulate their minds, helping them to develop critical thinking, interest and confidence in applying hands-on scientific methods to discover why and how things work, happen, or are created.

The Science Club is an exciting place, in which to be involved, for those who always ask the question “Why?” and also for those who seldom do, so that they too can learn to question and find out the reasons behind actions, functions and certain properties of matter.

The Art Club is designed to provide a space conducive to each member’s development of artistic expression. The club intends to provide highly engaging activities that enable learners to explore the use of media and techniques that enrich their imaginative and creative expression.

Activities will expose them to the application of traditional art material such as paints, paper and glue as well as encouraging the use of material from nature like seeds, pods, stones, leaves and from recyclable clean waste material. They will have opportunities to create their own pictures, models or other artifacts. Learners will be able to engage socially and share ideas to enhance their unique artistic experiences.

The mission of the club is to de-mystify Mathematics by providing opportunities for children to experience the intrigue and pleasure gained from tackling interesting and challenging problems. Learners will be encouraged to explore concepts and ideas by learning to examine data, identify relationships, see patterns, discover formulae and explore individually or collaboratively with other members. They will be motivated through the use of games, quizzes, puzzles, riddles and other intriguing activities. There will be opportunities for them to improve recall of important mathematical facts through interesting activities and exciting games.

Learners will be encouraged to investigate mathematical ideas using the internet and other channels, followed up by showcasing their results in the club meetings. These experiences should help them develop confidence to verbalize their thoughts, views and findings before others. Our mission is to cultivate a positive atmosphere and interest in mathematics and its relevance to everyday life.

The purpose of the drama club is to cultivate skills in each individual that contribute to captivating theatrical performances. Our program is based on the principles of creating, performing, responding and connecting to the subject.

Learners will be presented with activities that develop concentration co-operation and communication techniques, followed by warm-up and focus exercises. Exploration of drama will be undertaken through fun activities so that members understanding of the basic components like tempo, movement, body and facial expression, sound, voice and articulation are improved.

Performance skills will be nurtured through characterization, improvisation, monologues and dialogues. Every member of the club will be encouraged to participate actively as an individual or through collaborative activities that are interesting and provide experiences that they will appreciate and enjoy.
